What is an ingest and why do I need a video ingest to stream with AntiScuff?

An ingest is the server or set of servers that receive the video stream you’re sending. It’s like a middleman, making sure the video you send actually gets to the platform (Twitch, YouTube, etc.). With SRT, these ingests are better equipped to handle the messiness of real-world connections, ensuring a smoother, higher-quality stream.

Why does live streaming need an ingest?

Live streaming requires an ingest to ensure stability and reliability. Instead of sending video directly from your device to a streaming platform, the ingest processes the video feed you send and passes it forwards to your AntiScuff Cloud OBS server. Without this ingest we simply wouldn’t be able to process your incoming video feed and can’t use our systems to keep your stream alive when your mobile connection gets lost.

Can I live stream on AntiScuff without an ingest?

No, an ingest is a crucial component of a live streaming setup. However, when using AntiScuff’s Cloud OBS Hosting, the ingest is already integrated into the system, which means you don’t have to do any additional configuration to make ingests work.

If you’re using BELABOX hardware or other external encoders, you’ll still need to connect to our ingest. Read more: how to configure BELABOX Push with AntiScuff.

What is a BELABOX ingest?

A BELABOX ingest is a dedicated streaming relay service designed to receive and process live video streams before forwarding them to a final destination, such as Twitch, YouTube, or a custom RTMP/SRT server. BELABOX ingests are optimized for low-latency, high-quality streaming with advanced error correction and failover mechanisms.

What is the difference between the AntiScuff BELABOX ingest and the ingest offered on belabox.net?

The primary difference is cost and integration. The BELABOX ingest from AntiScuff is available at half the price when bundled with an AntiScuff Cloud OBS Hosting package.

Where are your servers and ingests located?

We have multiple ingest locations worldwide. You can see our full map of available server and ingest locations.

Can I request an ingest closer to my location if I travel to a different country?

Yes, AntiScuff allows you to switch to a closer ingest if you’re traveling. This helps maintain optimal latency and stream stability while broadcasting from different regions. Simply contact support to request a location change. Please request a change of ingest at least 24 hours before you go out travelling, so we have enough time to switch your ingest over to your new location.
