How to connect to Remote Desktop on MacOS

For MacOS

We will need to install “Windows” from the App Store

Once the App Store is open, we need to find “Windows App

Click on Install

Once installed, you can open it from within the App Store or from the App Drawer

Search for Windows within the app drawer and select Windows App

You may see a warning to allow “Windows App” to find devices on local networks, this is NOT required so click “Don’t Allow

Once open, click on the + Symbol

You’ll need to click on “Add PC

PC Name (1)
IP Address as found within the Client Portal

Friendly Name (2)
This can be anything

And then click on Devices & Audio” (3)

Change “Play Sound” from “On this computer

We need this to be “On the remote PC” then press “Save

Now we need to add in the server username and password

Click on “Ask when required

Click on “Add Credentials…


Input the Username and Password as found within the Client Portal. Friendly name can be anything.

The server will now show on the main screen of the Windows app, double click the server to connect

Accept the certificate error, and then you should see the desktop.
